Chris Botti
Jazz music in London has never been more alive, and with artists like Chris Botti on the scene, things have never been so exciting either.
Following his storming, sold-out shows at our London jazz club, we are delighted to be welcoming Chris and his band back. Chris’s trumpet has graced the work of artistes such as Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Sting, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, as well as jazz legends such as Woody Shaw and George Coleman. Like a modern day Chet Baker, Chris’s sweet trumpet tone has pretty much established him in a genre all of his own in today’s contemporary jazz scene and he has performed his unique brand of jazz music in London and all over the world.
Drawing on material not just from the American Popular Songbook but also film scores and contemporary pop writers, Chris’s instrumental versions of classic songs are delivered in a way which straight away reminds the listener of the lyrics of whatever song it is he’s performing – a true testament to a musician who has worked with some of the greatest interpreters of lyrics in Popular Music. Chris has surrounded himself by some of the finest musicans on todays scene. With Billy Kilson on drums, Jon Ossman on bass, Grammy winner Billy Childs on piano and the astonishing Marc Whitfield on Guitar, it’s no wonder that we’ve had so many inquiries asking when Chris is coming back. Well he’s here, so come down and enjoy what will surely be 3 very memorable nights.
