Jazz Dynamos bandleaders Mark Adelman and Anders Janes met while working with Ronnie Scott’s favourite, Ray Gelato - first in the legendary Chevalier Brothers, then in Ray’s current band, the Giants.

Between tours, which took in major jazz festivals such as Montreux and Nice, and performances at the world famous Carnegie Hall, Mark, Ray and Anders (a.k.a. Clark Kent in this former musical life) set up Jazz Dynamos.

When Ray became unavailable due to his own band’s growing success, a new front man was sought.

Pat Reyford, who at the time was leading his own 1940s inspired big band, Sugar Ray’s Flying Fortress, was deemed the perfect choice.

His ability to perform any type of music, from jazz and swing to soul and rap, and the Jazz Dynamos’ desire to spread their musical wings saw the band’s repertoire evolve into an eclectic, exciting, and often unpredictable, mix.

The addition of top French drummer Dom Metz (Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra) followed, and with vocalist Mim Grey co-fronting, the band went from strength to strength.

More recently, up and coming vocalist Lucy Randell replaced Mim Grey, bringing further diverse influences to the band following her experience of working with Damon Albarn's Gorillaz, plus some of the UK’s leading drum and bass artists.

Jazz Dynamos remain in demand all over the world, performing at clubs, festivals and private events for, amongst others, British and Hollywood Royalty – both in the UK and Europe.

Last year saw the band venture further afield travelling for the first time to perform in Cambodia and Azerbaijan.

Festival highlights include filmed performances at Henley and Rosheim, both of which can be viewed online.

Jazz Dynamos look forward to bringing their unique musical mix to Ronnie Scott’s for the first time on 21^st April.
