A favourite band with discerning lindy hoppers and swing jazz connoisseurs, Kai’s Cats have opened for celebs from Joss Stone to the cast of Red Dwarf with diplomats and royalty in between. Fronted by American singer “Queen of Swing” Kai Hoffman, Kai’s Cats have been resident performers at Ronnie Scott’s for nearly six years with their own club night, Live and Let Jive - called “London’s coolest hepcat hangout” by The Stage, and awarded Critic’s Choice by Time Out London. Kai’s Cats have been featured on BBC radio and Jazz FM, and have played at venues and festivals all over the UK and abroad. With nearly ten years of jivin’ under their belts, Kai’s Cats are a fabulously vintage style, swingin’ band, sponsored by fashion brand Vivien of Holloway.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Kai Hoffman is a versatile, vivacious performer, equally at home in a vast variety of venues ranging from the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall to the Rome Rockabilly Festival, the Blue Note Milano to the Sheraton Hotel in Bangladesh. Award-winning singer Ray Gelato sums up Kai Hoffman brilliantly: “[Kai has] a great ability to sell whatever song she is singing, and put it across with bags of personality… using the richness of her voice to great effect, and also displaying fine pitch and great phrasing… One of the finest vocalists and performers around on the scene today.”
