LEE GIBSON SINGS 'THE MAGIC OF GERSHWIN'
Vocals: Lee Gibson, Piano: John Horler, Bass: Paul Morgan, Drums: Neil Bullock, Alto /Flute: Jamie Talbot
One of the UK’s classiest singers presents songs from one of the most influential composers of the last century. Described by the Independent as “a jazz vocal sensation”, Lee Gibson can do it all – her swinging, charismatic, highly musical singing is as equally at home in an intimate trio as it is backed by the might of the BBC Big Band or the famous Metropole Orchestra. She has worked with (or rather the other way around) some of the greats in the jazz world and has been hailed as the UK’s equivalent to Stateside artists like Cassandra Wilson, whom in terms of sheer talent alone she can more than count as an equal. Her stellar quintet features top British jazz heavyweights Andy Panayi – saxes/flute, John Pearce – piano, Paul Morgan – bass and Bobby Worth – drums.
