In 1959, saxophonist Ronnie Scott opened the door to a small basement club in London’s west end where local musicians could jam. Today, it is one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs attracting packed houses and the biggest names in jazz and popular music and Ronnie Scott’s welcoming, stylish setting is also home to London’s coolest late night hang.

Each night Monday to Saturday, after the main act, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage for a late night blowing session.

Robbie Harvey was born in Jersey in the Channel Islands. After moving to London aged 18, he was privileged to study with Denis Wick, Malcolm Earle Smith and Jiggs Whigham at both the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music. He has won many international prizes including The Don Lusher competition, Jiggs Whigham Trombone competition, and all three of the International Trombone Association’s Jazz competitions.

While studying, Robbie gained valuable experience as lead trombone with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and is also a former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

He has performed across Europe and further afield with groups such as the BBC Big Band, Guy Barker Orchestra, Laurence Cottle Big Band, Gordon Campbell Big Band, Ronnie Scotts Jazz Orchestra, Cleo Laine and the late John Dankworth, amongst many others.

He can regularly be found performing at Ronnie Scotts Jazz club including leading his own groups with artists such as Mark Nightingale and Alex Garnett. Robbie is a Michael Rath Trombones performing artist.
