A singer who knows how to swing a band to rude health. Back by public demand!

IAIN MACKENZIE & SWING CITY

Iain Mackenzie is a singer who comes straight from the cool school of Frank Sinatra, Nat Cole & Mel Tormé. Iain is the principle male vocalist with our very own Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra - he will be delivering his own tribute to the music of Frank Sinatra, and his buddies. Iain is joined by the renowned Swing City, a slick eight-piece band lead by double bass player and arranger Dave Foster.

“a fine jazz singer” – Michael Parkinson

IAIN MACKENZIE - BIOG

Coming from a pedigree of great British jazz musicians to have passed through the Guildhall School of Music, Iain Mackenzie is one of the top jazz and big band vocalists in the country. Having worked with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Big Band, Iain is currently the principle male vocalist for the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, and section leader for the Ronnie Scott’s Singers.

Iain’s voice is featured on a vast amount of publicity and adverts, including the new T-Mobile advert ‘Welcome Home’ at Heathrow Terminal 5, and on a number of film soundtracks, including the British comedy ‘Grow Your Own’. He has just completed a UK tour, singing for Brendon Cole’s (Strictly Come Dancing) Live and Unjudged show.

Iain works widely with vocal groups including Voxtet, The Magnets, The New London Jazz Voices, The Tim Whitehead group, The Kenny Wheeler Mirror Suite, and more recently with South African jazz pianist legend, Abdullah Ibrahim.  Iain also performs with his own jazz quintet, and released his debut album ‘Twice On Sunday’ on Jazzizit Records in 2007.
