Vocalist Jacqui Hicks and pianist John Critchinson are long-time musical associates in Quartet and Duet formats and they share the same quest for quality of music and song arrangements.

Jacqui & John’s Trio with Dave Green - Double Bass and Tristan Mailliot - Drums have made several successful appearances at Ronnie Scott's Club and this exciting Quartet set high standards, with new arrangements of the British and American Song Books, ancient and modern.

Their 1st. CD - With a song in my Heart (33 records) featured their regular musicians - Dave and Tristan plus Martin Shaw Trumpet and Flugel Horn. Their latest CD, ‘A Child is Born’  features the regular Trio plus guest contributions from Bobby Wellins and Martin Shaw, playing some of Jacqui’s own, fine arrangements.

Jacqui Hicks - came through Leeds College of Music, via NYJO and in 1992, she joined funk band Shakatak and has since toured the world with them. Her debut solo album Spellbound (Hi-Hat 2001) received excellent reviews and her current CDs with John Critchinson's Trio and Guests, proves Jacqui's talent as a gifted singer and arranger of both standards and jazz music.
A singer of warmth, poise and intelligence, whose smokey voice is a pleasure to listen to - Yorkshire Post.

John Critchinson gained wide recognition from his 16 years work with Ronnie Scott’s bands and at Ronnie’s Club.He worked with many great American players including George Coleman, James Moody, Joe Henderson and Johnny Griffin. After the untimely death of Ronnie Scott in 1996, John formed the 'Ronnie Scott Legacy' with Pat Crumly which toured the UK and New Zealand for three years. He now works regularly with the Simon Spillett Quartet and Simon’s Standard Miles Quintet. John is one of the most respected jazz pianists on the scene today.
