    • Ambulance LP Nets Rave Reviews

    As Ronnie’s gears up to extend a wonderfully warm jazz club welcome to Arnie Somogyi’s Ambulance featuring Eddie Henderson at the start of next month, rave reviews have already begun flooding in for the group’s debut album ‘Accident and Insurgency’.



    Dubbed ‘magical’ and ‘evocative’ by Jazzwise, the album’s fantastical atmosphere and shingle-gazing seascapes seamlessly meld with its ‘loping groove, imaginative colours and little solos which illuminate the constantly changing tempos’ to evoke the idyllic Suffolk coastline where it was recorded.



    A pedigree line-up of Eddie Henderson, Paul Booth, Tim Lapthorne, Dave Smith and Rob Townsend, the band manages a wonderful cohesion and freedom despite the towering range of musical personas and achieves ‘that unlikely mix of gentle attentiveness between musicians, a caring, unfussy love of detail and a capacity to laugh and robustly stretch out’.



    Arnie Somogyi’s Ambulance are playing at Ronnie Scott’s from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th February.
