    Earlier today, we were delighted to receive the full line up for Johnny Griffin’s dates at Ronnie’s later in the month to celebrate his 80th Birthday (26, 27th May). And what a cracking line up it is! Amongst those who will be paying their respects as well as performing with the sax legend & club favourite is the great fusion drummer Billy Cobham (of John McLaughlin & Mahvishnu Orchestra fame). Roy Hargrove, who has recorded with Johnny in the past, will also feature on trumpet and will surely add an experimental edge to the nights proceedings!

    The full line up is:

    Johnny Griffin (tenor sax)
    Roy Hargrove (trumpet)
    James Pearson (piano) -one night each
    + Dave Newton (piano) - one night each 
    Reggie Johnson (bass)
    Billy Cobham (drums)
