Already renowned as one of the greatest and most historic jazz clubs in the world, Ronnie Scott’s has always offered the very best in live jazz music. As well as the main club, the venue’s upstairs bar, known as Ronnie’s Bar, enjoys considerable prestige as a classy and upmarket place to while away the evenings in style, recreating the relaxed vibe of the ‘50s speakeasy. Ronnie’s Bar has always been a well kept secret. However, a simple walk up the historical staircase will lead you to one of the most intimate yet highly sophisticated cocktail bars in Soho.
Please note, for Ronnie's Bar there is no pre-booking necessary please turn up on the door.
As part of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club policy, it is expanding its programme of events in Ronnie’s Bar in order to establish it as a venue in its own right. Check out the fantastic new additions to the programme and make Ronnie’s Bar a regular addition to your list of places to be and be seen!

A potpourri of acoustic performances across the genres from up and coming artists

1st Tuesday of the month: T.V. Nights presents...
On the first Tuesday of every month, TV Nights are proud to present to you the finest troubadours and musicians of the current thriving British folk scene. Our resident artists John Hogg and Adam Phillips will kick off the night with a glorious acoustic set of originals and covers. Following them each month will be some of the finest young and up and coming folk artists playing alongside some of the more established names of the genre. After the headline acts there will be a folk jam session taking place into the early hours in homage to some of the legendary jazz jams that have taken place in the room...
2nd Tuesday of the Month: The Soundtrack...
A night for lovers of film and music alike, The Soundtrack is brought to you by soul singer Oggie and his fantastic band. With screenings of short-films by both established and up-and-coming directors as well as some top soul and R&B grooves and an open-mic session, keep an eye on this multi-media experience for some great surprises, held on the second Tuesday of each month.
3rd Tuesday of the Month: Kai’s Kats...
Led by the lovely American songstress Kai Hoffman, swingin' retro band Kai's Cats has a fabulous lineup featuring some of London's hottest jazz players. With numbers like Louis Jordan’s There Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens and a jump-jived version of Nat King Cole’s Mona Lisa, this band is guaranteed to get toes tapping all night long. Come boogie the night away with the hippest kitties in town on the third Tuesday of each month!
Last Tuesday of the Month: Ruby Sings...
An excellent, largely vocal-led night on the last Tuesday of each month, Ruby Sings is dedicated to showcasing the skills of unsigned artists and musicians from across the city. From the house band to the acts that perform, all who take part have an amazing amount of talent but perhaps have never had the opportunity to play live. As much a showcase for industry types to witness the great wealth of musical ability on the scene as it is a night of pure entertainment for the public, what this evening offers is a musical marketplace open to all.
WEDNESDAYS – Michael Mwenso's Jazz Jam
Get involved at the capital’s best jam session
(£5 entrance from 9pm onwards)
The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Jam is quickly becoming the most talked about interactive music session in town. Featuring a wealth of talent from both household names and up-and-coming players, the Jazz Jam lets you get up close and personal to the music in the cool surroundings of Ronnie’s Bar. The guest band changes from week to week, recently featuring names like Brandon Allen and Steve Fishwick, Chris Lowe, Enzo Zirilli, Larry Bartley and Nathaniel Facey and audiences can expect to see a few surprise guests dropping by for a play as well.
THURSDAYS – SORRISO BRASIL
Gaio de Lima Trio
Kicking off Carnival season we have the Gaio de Lima Trio. Playing Samba de Raiz (Roots Samba from Rio de Janiero), Chorinho (considered the first and most important popular music style of Brazil) and famous songs associated with Carnival in Brazil, this collective will bring the exhilirating Carnival sounds all the way from Brazil. A master on the mandolin, Gaio de Lima will lead this carnival extravaganza at Ronnies alongside Jonathan Preiss (guitar) and Marius Rodrigues (drums). To celebrate the Carnival period we will run two events to mark the occasion, bringing a truely authentic Brazilian flavour to Ronnie Scotts.
FRIDAYS – Viva La Revolucion!
A celebration of music hosted by the hottest Latin players in town
Latin lovers are given a double dose of hot tunes with Viva La Revolucion! following on Friday nights. Featuring a selection of artists from London's eclectic world scene, this incredible night brings together a mix of Afro-Cuban and Latin vibes to keep things spicy as the weekend hits. The night peaks with a freewheeling Latin-style jam session that keeps everyone dancing and spirits high until the early hours. Hosted by guitarist and singer Javier Camilo, Viva! Is the perfect way to get yourself fired up for the weekend every Friday night.
SATURDAYS – Walking In Rhythm
Vast and varied mix of tunes from past to present
Saturdays sees Ronnie’s Bar taken over by the cool sounds of host and DJ Jimboselector from 9pm until 3am. The Walking In Rhythm nights create an upbeat but laid-back atmosphere of the best house party you’ve never been to, with a music selection that can combine anything from Duke Ellington, John Lee Hooker, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown and anything else that will get the crowd on their feet. Kick off your shoes and get on down to a great mix of jazz, blues, funk, soul, reggae and much more besides.
SUNDAYS
(4th Sunday of each month, starting in March, £5 from 7pm) THE LONDON TAP JAM
Starting in March, improvised tap dance comes to Ronnie Scott's - the UK's only regular jam session for tap dancers and musicians.
The London Tap Jam at Ronnie's Bar features talented tap dancers from across the country and around the world, jamming with a live jazz trio led by Dave Silk. Expect top dancers to drop in previous events have featured Will Gaines, Heather Cornell and Roxanne Butterfly. All tap dancers and musicians are welcome to join in. Hosted by Junior Laniyan, from 8pm.
For newcomers and the nervous, the Renegade Stage (hosted by Annette Walker, from 7.15pm) provides a gentle introduction to improvisation.
ESPAÑA ON FIRE
(2nd Sunday of each month, £5 from 7pm)
Once a month at Ronnie’s Bar, get fired up with London’s hottest night of flamenco inspired music and dancing with Espaňa On Fire. Starting on the 8th February with a stunning performance by Ulises Díaz, Sunday nights will never be the same. As ever, audiences are encouraged to get involved, with a jam and dance session after the main performance.
This night runs from 7:30pm – 11pm
Ronnie’s Bar is open from 6pm til 3am Monday to Saturday (until 11:30pm Sunday). Entrance is free before 9pm and £5 thereafter unless otherwise stated.
