Since his crucial contribution to the timeless music of the great John Coltrane Quartet of the 1960s, and his own spectacular band of the 70s, Tyner has been a pivotal figure in the evolution of contemporary jazz, a hugely influential pianist whose rhythmic impetus and creative spirit is simply awesome. His current trio is joined by one of the most complete saxophonists of today, and a stalwart of today's Blue Note artist roster - Joe Lovano combines the sound and swing of the great tenor players of the past with the inventive vision of a true musical explorer.
