Information on Bill Bruford's Earthworks feat. Tim Garland

Bill Bruford's contribution to the UK music scene has been well documented for many years.

As the drummer for both Yes and King Crimson, he was an integral part of the forefront of intelligent rock music in the Seventies and beyond. Bruford formed his Earthworks group in 1986 to give him the opportunity to play both electric and acoustic jazz, and to explore a musical form he has always held dear. Since then, the group has toured and recorded consistently, and Bruford himself has also joined forces with artists such as Al Di Meola, Tony Levin, Larry Coryell and Pete Lockett.

The current Earthworks group consists of pianist Gwilym Simcock, one of the most talked about players on the British scene at the moment; Tim Garland, the country's very own saxophone colossus who came to Earthworks fresh from Chick Corea's band; and Laurence Cottle, a home-grown bass legend and a hugely in-demand sideman and leader of his own extraordinary 17-piece big band. British jazz at its best.

"Earthworks makes jazz out of just about anything handy on its third release for Editions EG." (Jazziz)

"Bruford is able to play with the kind of flexibility and nuance that simply wouldn't work in... Genesis, Yes or King Crimson." (4-stars, Downbeat)
