'Charlie Parker On Dial'  is a thrilling journey through a key period in alto saxophone legend Charlie Parker's recording career, taking us session by session through his years (1946-47) with Ross Russell's Dial label, narrated by Alex Webb. In these two years Parker recorded timeless jazz classics such as Ornithology, Night in Tunisia, Relaxin' at Camarillo, Scrapple from the Apple and Klacto-veeseds-tene.

The show also includes many rarely-played Parker tunes, and the arrangements combine faithful transcriptions of key musical moments with plenty of space for the top-flight musicians to be themselves in a classic bebop context.

'If Bird couldn't make it, altoist Nathaniel Facey seemed like the next best thing, handling these time-honoured, zippy ensemble parts with aplomb and then embarking on his own variations rather than attempting any replications of Parker's original solos ... Good script, good concept, fantastic music.'

- From 'London Jazz News' review of Charlie Parker On Dial at the London Jazz Festival, November 2013.

‘An unadulterated delight …  it was the collective performance that stood out, the careful arrangements that allowed interpretation and not the sterility of pure reproduction, that presented this Dial catalogue as fresh and contemporary.’

- From Birdlives.co.uk review of Charlie Parker On Dial at Ropnnie Scott’s, February 2014

‘Webb's gig to honour Parker proved a continuously exuberant ride. From the side of the stage, when not occupied in his position tonight as leader, pianist and tell-all-tale-spinner, Webb resembled a proud dad, smiling, as he surveyed the fine young talent he'd brought together for this show. A more-than-befitting tribute to Bird, performed by a band as razor-sharp as those suits.’
