BIOGRAPHY

“Light of the World is a band formed to pursue a vision. Hordes of artists have jumped on the retro Soul Jazz Funk bandwagon.  You are invited to hear where it all began…Time Out Magazine”

The live show is an authentic slice of fast funky floor fillers, featuring original members Gee Bello (Lead Vocals & Percussion) Mel Gaynor (Drums), Nat Augustin (Lead Vocals, Guitar & Trombone), supported by some of the UKs top Jazz  Funk Soul musicians.

The band perform their most popular hits London Town, I Shot the Sheriff, No.1 Girl, I’m So Happy, plus many of the bands major recordings are performed with inspired passion culminating in a truly enjoyable evening.

With three decades of music behind them Light of the World are responsible for creating, shaping and introducing a new genre of music to the British and International music scene.  Their success over the years is only matched by the caliber of artists that they have had the pleasure of working with as session musicians and as a band, in their own right. Inspired by their continued success as independent artists and band members, Light of the World name a few of the class acts and all time greats, that have employed their services ranging from  ….

…. Super DJ’s including Carl Cox, Pete Tong, International stars including George Michael, Alexander O’Neal, Ronnie Laws, Spandau Ballet and Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Gabrielle, Incognito, Boy George, Shola Ama, D-Influence, Rick Astley, Beggar & Co. Shakka Tak, Mica Paris, Jelly Bean, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston and Robbie Williams, Elton John, David Bowie, Robert Palmer, Crusaders, Roy Ayres, Jamiroquai, Eddie Floyd and more recently at the O2 Indigo, they performed with US artists D.Train Williams & Colonel Abrams.

Light Of The World is widely acknowledged as true Innovators of the Britfunk movement. Their unique sound is a branded combination of gutsy soulful vocals, tight jazz horn melodies, and fat gritty bass lines, with essential percussive rhythms.
