Buddy Greco Quartet & Lezlie Anders

BUDDY GRECO & LEZLIE ANDERS

Buddy Greco was Benny Goodman’s pianist for two years,  but became an international star recording over 60 albums and 100 singles, including hits  ‘Around the World’, ‘Funny Valentine’ and ‘Satin Doll’. Buddy is the last member of the elite Rat Pack and on 30th April 2010 headlined a concert with the BBC Concert Orchestra introduced by Michael Parkinson on BBC Radio 2.  In July and September 2010 he will tour the UK with his show “Las Vegas Legends” before returning to America for a short season of ‘Fever’.

Lezlie Anders has made a huge impact in the UK, and impressed Ronnie’s audiences with her easy going style. Frank Sinatra was a great fan who regularly patronized her Las Vegas shows.  Variety Magazine describes her as being ‘Hot Stuff’.  Lezlie has conceived and written the stage musical ‘Fever’ based upon Peggy Lee’s music which will appear in London’s West End in 2011.

Buddy’s Quartet will be completed with Bobby Worth on drums and Martin roach on bass and Sean Whittle on Synths

From Las Vegas Review:  “Every single number is beautifully rendered – fine musicians, exquisite attention to detail, just the right amounts of sincerity and humour and the stellar performance of Lezlie Anders are the components that make this show one that grabs you on the first note and doesn’t let go until the curtain falls – and then you wonder why there isn’t any more.”

From Entertainment Today, Las Vegas:  “If you are ever in a city where Fever is being performed by Lezlie Anders and Buddy Greco, do yourself a favour.  Get a ticket and watch two musical magicians transform your thoughts back to a time when Miss Peggy Lee graced the stages of the world.”

From Las Vegas Review Journal:  “Ms. Anders holds her own – and then some!  They make magic on stage together”

More info:

If you are a fan of the music from the 50s and 60s and the Rat Pack era, then Buddy Greco will be very familiar to you. . He has played every major concert hall in the world, every hotel in Las Vegas, appeared in the Royal Command Performance, on the same bill as the Beatles and is one of the true legends from the golden era of entertainment.

Buddy is a showman from the golden age of classic entertainers, his swinging style is hardly matched on any stage today. A truly talented jazz pianist as well as a honey voiced crooner, Greco has been singing the hits and gaining the admiration of audiences and peers for decades.

Unlike his close friends Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Nat King Cole, Buddy Greco came along that little bit later. He was on the road as Benny Goodman's pianist for three years , playing the London Palladium in 1952. He was the up and coming kid when the music of the Beatles, Country and Western and Elvis started to dominate the music scene.

Greco is one of that rare breed of artists who has a boundless energy and enthusiasm that shines in everything he does, as these 3 nights of exceptional performance at Ronnie Scott's will demonstrate in spades.

Buddy was the original ‘Mr Cool’, something the new generation of singers try so hard to achieve.
