The Sound Stylistics
Support: The Ronnie Scotts All Stars

The Sound Stylistics bring their big band funk to Ronnie Scott’s for the first time. Showcasing some of the UK’s finest funk and Jazz players the band mix funky grooves and tough brass lines with raging Jazz solo’s to give a truly storming show.

Written and produced by brothers Jason and Dominic Glover and Gary Crockett the bands first album ‘Play Deep Funk” was the number one jazz download on I-tunes Japan on it’s release in 2007. The follow up “Greasin’ The Wheels “ has just been released on Freestyle/P-vine and shows the band moving further into the Hammond funk meets big band genre and taking influences from 60’s and 70’s movie soundtracks and library music.  From danceable James Brown style funk through to heavy horn led workouts reminiscent of early Tower of Power and Blood, Sweat and Tears, this explosive Jam band needs to be seen live for the complete experience.

‘They definitely got the title right on this one -- as the album's a deep funk monster through and through -- easily one of the best examples of contemporary funk we've heard in a long long time!’  - Dusty Groove USA review

Jay Glover, brother Dominic Glover, and Gary Crockett have worked together as a writing and recording team since 1997, when they met whilst touring as members of the James Taylor Quartet.

Recorded in 2002 as a Bruton library album, the Sound Stylistics ‘Deep Funk’ album has weaved its way into funk folklore for collectors the world over, becoming a word of mouth phenomena and a collectors dream, due to its failure to ever get a proper release.

Despite file-sharers, bootleggers and back-street dealers pushing illegitimate copies of the tracks, the legendary status of this lost album has not waned one bit. In May 2007 it finally received an official release on the Freestyle label.

The album was the number one jazz download on iTunes Japan on it’s release, and has received rave reviews worldwide from all the specialist soul and funk record dealers.

Performed by some of the best musicians on the planet, and a veritable who’s who on the London funk scene, the album features the classic JTQ rhythm section of James Taylor (organ), Gary Crockett (bass) and Neil Robinson (drums) alongside guitarists Eddie Roberts (New Mastersounds) and Mark Van der Gucht (Galliano).

They are joined by Fender Rhodes phenomenon Jim Watson (Brand New Heavies, Incognito and Zero 7) and the heavyweight horns of Dominic Glover (trumpet - Brand New Heavies & Incognito), Andy Ross (sax - The Herbaliser), Mike Smith (Sax - Jamiroquai) and Nichol Thompson (trombone - Brand New Heavies & Incognito). The album also has percussion from the legendary Snowboy, additional drums from Simon Lee (Dr. Seuss) and guest vocals from Noel McKoy.

Collectively they make up The Sound Stylistics, a jam band of the highest order.
