Shlomo Biog

 One of the world’s leading beatboxers, Shlomo has worked for years to push theboundaries of beatboxing as an artform.

 Shlomo has recorded music for the Olympic Games with Björk, appeared on ‘Later...with Jools Holland’ and performed live on BBC2’s coverage of Glastonbury.

 He makes original human music through any means possible, be it loop sampling, groupperformance or collaborative improvisations. Also a talented jazz drummer andclassically-trained percussionist, Shlomo treats the art of beatboxing as a form of musicand a means for creative expression.

 Shlomo can make music with his mouth that you cannot begin to imagine. His ability tocreate all manner of drum sounds, vocal scratches and complex rhythmic beatbox techniques have seen him perform all over the planet, work with a whole host of international artists, and become a YouTube sensation.

 He has worked and performed with a diverse range of artists such as Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn, the Specials, Björk, Bill Bailey, Martha Wainwright, and DJ Yoda.

 2007 marked the birth of Shlomo’s 13-piece human beatbox choir, ‘Shlomo and the

Vocal Orchestra’. The feature documentary ‘The Beatbox Choir’ follows the story ofthe choir over the six weeks from their first meeting up until their headline performanceat the International Beatbox Convention in London. The choir went on to perform to15,000 people at the Big Chill Festival in August 2007, and have been playing at festivals and venues all over the country since.

 Shlomo is currently Artist in Residence at the London Southbank Centre. His collaborative concert series ‘Music Through Unconventional Means’ features guestartists from diverse musical backgrounds, and has  included folk singers Martha

Wainwright and Teddy Thompson, AV artist DJ Yoda, Mercury nominated jazz groupPolar Bear, and dub pioneer Mad Professor.
