SUNDAY JAZZ LUNCH! Celebrating Doris Day’s life in film, TV and on record with Sarah Weller and the Mad Men

LINE UP confirmed: Sarah Weller – vocals, Freddie Gavita - trumpet, Simon Golding - guitar, Arthur Lea – piano, Spencer Brown – bass, Simon Pearson – drums and special guest vocalist Gavin Skeggs!

Sarah Weller presents the songs that proliferated Doris Day’s film and recording career comprising of the legendary films Calamity Jane, Pillow Talk, Love Me or Leave Me and Young at Heart and her extensive recording collaborations and classic repertoire Sentimental Journey, Day by Day, Bewitched, Close your Eyes and Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps.

Sarah Weller, a lifelong fan, takes us on a tour of the songs that highlighted the golden era of Hollywood films to turn her into the biggest female box office star ever and popular recording star.  The show coincides with Doris’ 92nd birthday and for this special day Sarah has invited along a special guest, vocalist Gavin Skeggs. Interspersed with facts about her life, her co-stars and cohorts, combined with the continuing interest in her life this is a show that is suited to fans young and old.

“With a humble assurance befitting the experienced performer that she is, singer Sarah Weller treads lightly on the 'American apple pie' phenomenon of the iconic Doris whilst touching on some of the darker aspects of her often less than satisfactory relationships with the men in her life. No mere mimicry - this well-paced show is Sarah's own 'non-ironic' take on Day's life emanating from a genuine love of her heroine's persona as a great actress as well as the show-stopping singer who touched all our hearts!”
