BIOGRAPHY:
After leaving his native Guyana to serve with the Royal Air Force during the Second World War Frank Holder first came to prominence with the Leslie "Jiver" Hutchinson big band. In 1950 he joined the legendary John Dankworth Seven sharing vocals with Dame Cleo Laine, and has since established himself as one of our best ever jazz singers; also arguably never bettered in the art of 'scatting'. Frank is also a formidable percussionist and for many years enhanced Britain's finest ever Latin jazz group Paz with his outstanding talents. Frank has recorded three albums for Mainstem Records, with his latest release Ballads, Blues and Bop receiving universal critical acclaim and listed in Jazz Journal magazine among the top ten jazz albums of 2009.
Jazz singer Juliet Kelly has forged her own unique niche on the jazz scene with her distinctive velvety voice, mesmerising original songs and Glam Jazz style. She has released three critically-acclaimed albums of mostly original material that have garnered excellent reviews from critics in the UK and the US as well as widespread radio airplay. She has worked with exceptional musicians including award-winners Seb Rochford, Courtney Pine and Tony Kofi and performed with Courtney Pine at the Barbican for the Jazz Britannia concert broadcast live on BBC television. Several tours have taken her to venues around the UK and she has also performed further afield with sell-out shows in Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia and America. Juliet
Pianist Geoff Castle was a member of Ronnie Scott's Quintet in 1979 and has appeared at the club many times with artists as diverse as George Coleman, Paz, Stan Robinson and Ian Carr's Nucleus. He has played with Frank for over fifteen years with Paz and Castle Frank n Stan with Stan Robinson. He has appeared on over fifty jazz albums with Graham Collier, Ian Carr and Paz to name a few and toured with his 10-piece Expanded band. His Impressions of New York suite was featured on Channel 4. The trio features Nick Kacal on double bass and Les Cirkel on drums.
