The Julian Joseph All Star Big Band made its debut performance at London's Barbican Hall in 1994. The following year it hosted a late-night Prom to a sell-out audience at the Royal Albert Hall and in 2002 opened the London Jazz Festival.
Built around the Julian Joseph Trio - Mark Hodgson (bass), Mark Mondesir (drums) - the band brings together the finest of British talent: Peter King, Soweto Kinch, Nathaniel Facey, Steve Williamson, Jean Toussaint and Patrick Clahar (saxes), Abram Wilson, Noel Langley, Byron Wallen and Russell Bennett (trumpets), Pete Beechill, Harry Brown and Richard Henry (trombones), Barbara Wyllie and Steve Rubie (woodwinds).
Like its leader, the Julian Joseph All Star Big Band has its own distinctive voice, drawing on a significant repertoire of original compositions and arrangements delivered with sophistication, soulfulness and breathtaking energy.
