Hailing from the East End, London based quintet Planck Walker sees five of the city’s luminary young improvisers offer their own uniquely eclectic take on the capital’s musical landscape. Drawing inspiration from their involvement with cutting edge jazz from the UK, America and Europe, their sound is also subtly coloured by other musical idioms like Neo-Classicism, Hip Hop and Electronica.
What results is a fiery blend of compositional narrative, progressive instrumentalism and striking ensemble interplay laced with the sonic power and energy of London’s contemporary music scene. Having studied and played with some of the world’s top musicians such as Chris Potter, Soweto Kinch and Logan Richardson, any chance to see Planck Walker is an opportunity not to be missed.
