BIOGRAPHY
Jazz pianist Alex Hutton is a fine composer with an ear for folk and classical influences. He is a gifted and thoughtful improviser; a mainstay of the London jazz scene who has worked with Jim Mullen, Pete King to Pete Wareham.
Magna Carta Suite is his fourth album and offers a musical journey of ideas exploring the layers of history and landscapes from 1215 to 2015. The suite highlights the worldwide influence of Magna Carta and was composed as a celebration of the 800th anniversary .
“Alex Hutton makes vividly intelligent music that stands out head and shoulders in a crowded scene.” BRIAN MORTON
“Outstanding… An effervescent improviser and fleet-fingered craftsman of the keyboard.” Helen Mayhew
“Improvisations that join an affectingly hooky melodic knack to a rich and freewheeling impressionism as his speculations open out... '' John Fordham – The Guardian
(4stars) ''While a lot of new British jazz is going for the jugular this excellent album takes the more scenic route.'' Selwyn Harris, (Jazzwise) on his album “Songs From the Seven Hills”.
