Vocalist Emma Smith explores the legacy of arguably the greatest song stylist, First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella Fitzgerald, exploring the wonderful songbooks she recorded and evoking her impeccable diction, phrasing, timing and intonation and not forgetting her scat singing and remembering hit songs such as Mack the Knife, Cheek to Cheek, How High the Moon and A-Tisket-A Tasket.
She appears with the Jamie Safir Trio.
Emma Smith is recognised as one of the most exciting voices of her generation, spanning many genres, scenes and stages, she has performed everywhere from the O2 Arena to the Grahem Norton Show to the top jazz clubs of the world. Not only has Emma performed and recorded with some of the biggest artists in the world, (Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Goldie & Seal) she has also been collecting awards in her own name along the way: 'London Music Awards rising star'; 'Worshipful Company of Musicians Jazz Musician of the year' and a finalist at the 'Montreux Jazz Voice Competition'. Her immersion in music has more recently taken her into the broadcasting house as a presenter on BBC radio 3 and for ‘BBC Introducing’ shows, as well being interviewed for BBC4 TV documentaries alongside the likes of Groovy Porter, Dave Grohl and Iggy Pop. A proud member of the Puppini Sisters and the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Emma Smith is a voice to get aquatinted with now.
Pianist, Keyboardist, Songwriter and Musical-Director, Jamie Safir is in high demand across the UK and Europe and has worked with some of the finest names in contemporary jazz, pop and soul music.
His performance credits include: Will Young, Olly Murs, Rebecca Ferguson, The Brand New Heavies, Steps, Paul Heaton (The Beautiful South), Gabrielle Aplin & Tony Christie.
