Kansas Smitty’s House Band have spent the last year playing more music than ever before. Whether it’s a four-night sell-out residency at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, a late-night tent takeover at Love Supreme, or a European road trip to Scandinavia, it all comes down to one thing; their unique brand of original music.
Music this good needs a place to live. That’s why the band run their own bar on Broadway Market, where they meet to record, play, drink, and entertain audiences. Fans leap at the chance to see the band in their rightful home, and their summer series of Basement Tapes shows sold out in days. As Cerys Matthews said, ‘they dance to the beat of their own drum. Totally unpredictable’. What you can be sure of seeing the Kansas Smitty's House Band is the electric atmosphere they bring to every stage.
"Swinging towards a different level of jazz, Kansas Smittys are here to stay, but, let it be known, they not only play, but have definitely put danger back into jazz, so beware anyone… this jazz is not for the faint-hearted!" - Erminia Yardley - Jazz London News
