Line-up: JAMES PEARSON piano; ALEX GARNETT sax; SAM BURGESS bass; SHANE FORBES drums; NATLAIE WILLIAMS, EMMA SMITH vocals
These performances by the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars engage the talents of two singers. Natalie Williams and Emma Smith join forces with Alex Garnett, James Pearson, Sam Burgess and special guest drummer Shane Forbes in a set that features a cornucopia of swinging jazz, with some sparkling new arrangements of songs ranging from Leonard Bernstein and Irvin Berlin to a “double scat off” with a new take on Charlie Christian’s “Airmail Special” as made famous by Ella Fitzgerald. In addition, there will be the world premiere of a new song “Some of my Favourite Places” and as with every RSAS performance you can expect a few surprises along the way.
Ronnie Scott's All Stars combine classic music from the jazz greats who have performed at Ronnie Scott's since its opening in 1959, such as Count Basie and Miles Davis. Led by the club's artistic director James Pearson.
'Outstanding players. For poise, balance and swing they're a joy to listen to’ (The Observer).
