The band, born out of Kansas Smitty's pandemic livestreams, got together for the first time to perform Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn's legendary arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker in 2020.
Now, the band has taken on its own identity, with many of Smith's original arrangements in addition to swinging classics from the Benny Goodman, Count Basie and Duke Ellington books.
The band features former Kansas Smitty's soloists Joe Webb, Pete Horsfall, Daniel Higham and Alec Harper in addition to Rico Tommaso, Laura Jurd and other top players.
Earlier jazz styles re-invented to produce an original repertoire.
