Robin and his bespoke band pay joyful tribute to a lesser heard period of the music of the late Wayne Shorter. As a member of Miles legendary quintet and his work as founder-member of Weather Report, Shorter has provided endless inspiration to musicians and non-musicians alike. In many ways, his 1995 album High Life was the apex of his compositional powers, indulging in progressive harmony and through-composed forms, and finally releasing into heavy funk ostinatos. Expect to hear a few re-interpreted classics and perhaps even a sprinkling of Weather Report tracks.
Every Friday and Saturday night, following the second show, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage for a late night blowing session. We are changing the vibe with music that includes and is influenced by jazz-funk, soul, R&B and hip hop.
