NYJO Latin Collective

This evening show will begin with a performance by the NYJO Under 18s, led by MDs Winston Clifford and Olivia Murphy. The NYJO Under 18s is a Saturday programme for young jazz musicians aged 14-18, offering training, ensemble-playing, performance opportunities and jams to develop their technique and creativity.

Following this will be a 15-piece NYJO ensemble of Emerging Professionals (aged 18-25) will be performing a high-tempo Latin-infused programme, exploring everything from Salsa sounds to Afro-Cuban  Jazz, under the mentorship and direction of Sara Dhillon. 

Sara is a composer, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and the bandleader of Grupo Malanga. We invite you to join us for an exciting night of Latin American rhythms, featuring some of the UK’s most talented emerging artists.

Also known as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, NYJO is a registered charity and Arts Council NPO dedicated to making jazz and creative music-making more accessible to early-career musicians, young people, and audiences across the UK.  Throughout its activity, NYJO seeks to create a meeting-ground between the established and the experimental – the past, present, and future – to build bespoke artistic programmes, catering to lifelong and new jazz fans.
