Artists lined up to perform include Jazz Jamaica, Theon Cross, Cosmic Fusion, Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Ensemble, Kinetika Bloco, plus special guest DJ AG kicking things off.
All roads lead to Frith Street on August 2nd for our free mini day festival with a line-up of outstanding cross-generational UK jazz acts, DJ sets, family-friendly activities, outdoor bars and street food.
The live music spans the breadth of the UK jazz community, with sets from pioneering mento, ska, reggae, and jazz collective Jazz Jamaica, celebrated tuba virtuoso Theon Cross, genre-blending band Cosmic Fusion, the inspiring Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Ensemble and youth music group Kinetika Bloco. Live-streaming sensation and Time Out Londoner of the Year DJ AG will be opening the day, so make sure to get down early.
This event is in conjunction with The Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation, which supports jazz and music education for young people and holds regular workshops at Ronnie Scott’s throughout the year.
This is our chance to celebrate the foundation’s work, showcase the amazing youth organisations we partner with, and throw a free party with some of the most exciting names in UK jazz.
The Ronnie Scott’s Street Party will take place from 11am until 5pm on Saturday 2 August 2025 on Frith Street, Soho. Entry is free and no tickets are required.
Line-up:
Jazz Jamaica
Formed in 1991 by Gary Crosby OBE – bassist, band leader and nephew of Jamaica’s legendary guitarist Ernest Ranglin – the mighty Jazz Jamaica have rightly earned their reputation as “one of the UK’s leading good-time bands”’ (The Independent) from their many exuberant live performances and dynamic album releases over the past three decades.
Theon Cross
A graduate of Guildhall School of Music and an alumnus of the legendary Tomorrow’s Warriors, tuba player Theon Cross is one of the true innovators of the new London jazz scene, known for his energetic live performances blending jazz with elements of dub, soca, and grime.
Theon is one of those rare musicians whose vision has redefined their instrument. His unique approach to the tuba has expanded the instrument’s sonic possibilities in revolutionary fashion, restoring it to a long-forgotten prominence as a crucial part of the contemporary jazz ensemble.
Cosmic Fusion
Drummer Jon Onabowu has put together a group of young, talented and fired-up musicians playing their take on jazz fusion repertoire from as early as the ‘70s in a way that everyone can vibe with.
Tomorrow’s Warriors Youth Ensemble
Tomorrow's Warriors Youth Ensemble is a band punching well above their weight - a unique sextet aged 15-19, the band boasts exceptional talent. They are one of Tomorrow's Warriors flagship development groups, mentored by Denys Baptiste - one of the most acclaimed British saxophonists of the 21st century - as well as Binker Golding, Sultan Stevenson, and Gary Crosby OBE. With influences ranging from bebop and hard bop to spiritual jazz and fusion, expect a varied, dynamic, and exciting set!
Kinetika Bloco
If you caught Ezra Collective's recent Glastonbury performance, you can't have missed the incredible group of young musicians and dancers they brought on stage for their finale. That was Kinetika Bloco. The youth music organisation's mission is to engage young people from South London in long-term creative activity via music and dance, advancing their education, skills, and capacity for learning and leadership.
Their performances feature an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dancers all in costume creating a “unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge” (BBC Radio 2).
DJ AG
Time Out’s Londoner of the Year and a TikTok live-streamer with over a million followers. DJ AG is known for hosting impromptu-style DJ sets at outdoor public locations and his live streamed performances have featured famous artists including Skepta, Jorja Smith and Idris Elba.
