Tenderlonious Celebrates 50 years Thrust and 10 years of 22a Label

2nd November 2024

Thrust was the fourteenth studio album by Herbie Hancock, released in September 1974. The follow-up to the breakthrough Headhunters album was virtually as good as its wildly successful predecessor: an earthy, funky, yet often harmonically and rhythmically sophisticated tour de force. It featured The Headhunters: saxophonist Bennie Maupin, bass guitarist Paul Jackson, drummer Mike Clark and percussionist Bill Summers. The rhythm, improvisation and feeling inspired many and still does. This was the start of danceable jazz for a 70s audience.
