Vincent Herring Soul Jazz Septet feat. Joey Curreri
American star saxophonist Vincent Herring and his long-time partner Joris Dudli's band are joined by a new face from the New York jazz scene, the young Joey Curreri on trumpet.
Alongside brand-new material, the Soul Jazz Septet will be performing funky arrangements of ‘Round Midnight’, ‘Naima’ and other rousing soul jazz classics. For many years Herring and Dudli have been thrilling audiences at Ronnie Scott’s with various projects like ‘Earth Jazz’ or ‘Soul Chemistry’, always bringing melodious compositions paired with an adventurous playing style.
Vincent Herring is a saxophone virtuoso with a uniquely intense and vigorous musical voice. He first toured Europe and the United States with Lionel Hampton’s big band in the early 1980s and began working with Nat Adderley for nine years. Along the way he worked and/or recorded with Cedar Walton, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Hayes, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Horace Silver Quintet, Jack DeJohnette’s Special Edition, The Mingus Big Band, Kenny Barron and Nancy Wilson.

His chops are as imposing as ever… in his phrasing, the breath between notes, the sly statements and expressive nuance of how he sings through his sax… You can feel his sense of conviction and exhilaration.
