Ronnie Scott’s Live at the Jazz Cafe Camden

Ronnie Scott’s is delighted to present the James Taylor Quartet for 2 nights at the Jazz Café, Camden. For a quarter of a century, the James Taylor Quartet has set the standard for the coolest funky acid jazz. With their prolific recording and live schedule, they’ve quietly become a byword for distinguished British creativity. Driven by Taylor’s funky Hammond B3 Organ and Fender Rhodes grooves their relentlessly entertaining tunes take their inspiration from boogaloo funk of the sixties and the rare-groove style funk of the seventies. Something of a fixture at Ronnie Scott's, last year the band released a burnin’ live album ‘Bumpin’ On Frith Street’ on Gearbox Records, catching the band in full flight at the club. However, JTQ’s Acid-jazz era Christmas residency at The Jazz Café was one of the capital’s hottest tickets, so now almost 20 years later Ronnie Scott’s is very proud to present them back in Camden!

Ronnie Scott’s Live at the Jazz Cafe Camden

IDIOM (Joe Armon-Jones & Maxwell Owin) + BINKER GOLDING QUARTET + MAISHA

Ronnie Scott’s presents a triple-bill of Afrobeat, spiritual, improv jazz, 2-step and broken beat from three of London's most buzzing and talked about groups. Expect astral jazz driven by West African rhythms from Maisha, improv jazz from Binker Golding Quartet and everything from 2-step, broken-beat and house to jazz and dub from continuum-influenced IDIOM. The roll call of musicians on this triple bill is enough to make anyone blush, as collectively they feature many of the finest young trailblazers making waves on today's jazz scene.

Ronnie Scott’s Live at the Jazz Cafe Camden

This inspirational and gifted group of musicians – three brass, two keyboards, percussion, guitar bass and drums, plus two extraordinary singers - have recreated to perfection the hits and album tracks of Earth Wind and Fire.  Let your ears be the judge as the hits roll out – September, After the Love has Gone, Boogie Wonderland, Jupiter, Serpentine Fire and many, many more, made all the more poignant by last year’s passing of EWF founder Maurice ‘Moe’ White.

Doors 7pm / £22
