Simon Thorpe – bandleader & double bass
Thumps out a mean bass line but can't keep his head still. Jivin' Miss Daisy's bandleader and style guru, he has featured on several CDs with many top jazz acts including Stacey Kent, Bobby Wellins and Alan Barnes, and on TV's Big Breakfast. He has written and arranged music for many theatre productions and music libraries, and for BBC TV.
Liz Fletcher - Vocals
Liz started her career in theatre and dance but soon moved into singing and has become one of Britain's best known jazz vocalists, recently starring in a Nina Simone show at London's Cadogan Hall.
Malcolm Earle Smith – trombone
Top notch artiste of the slide plumbing & no mean crooner! Has recently played & sung around the world in Bryan Ferry's swing band and has recorded with James Langton's Solid Senders and with Digby Fairweather.
Simon Finch – trumpet
Flamboyant, hot-lips blues & swing master, Simon has worked with Tom Jones, Jools Holland and the Pop Idols big band. And wait til you see him shake his maracas!
Karen Sharp: saxophones
A fine saxophone player with an accessible yet distinctive style, Karen has won the tenor saxophone category of the British Jazz Awards on numerous occasions. Karen also runs her own band, which has recorded five albums and played at many festivals and jazz clubs.
Luke Annesley - saxex and clarinet
Luke Annesley has been on the UK jazz scene since 1993. Initially he composed for and played with the contemporary sextet Ahead Only. Luke performs as a featured soloist in the John Wilson Orchestra, which has played to sell-out audiences at Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Royal Festival Hall, and which worked with producer Phil Ramone on the soundtrack to the film “Beyond the Sea” with Kevin Spacey. He is a member of the contemporary saxophone ensemble Saxtet which has released a CD on Jazzprint on which some of Luke’s writing is featured. He was a member of the house band on the TV show Johnny Vaughan Tonight and has also played with Michael Garrick, John Dankworth, the “Back to Basie” band and Wayne Henderson’s Jazz Crusaders.
Nick Pearce – piano
Nick is an amazing talent and his jazz work has taken him all over the world, including a tour of the Blue Note Jazz Clubs in Japan. He has accompanied many singers, including Anita O'Day, Selina Jones, Peggy Lee, Elaine Delmar and Annie Ross, Mark Murphy and a multitude of instrumentalists: Dick Morrisey, Art Farmer, Woody Shaw, Kenny Davern, Warren Vache, Eddie Daniels, Ken Peplowski, Tommy Whittle and Ronnie Scott.
Colin Oxley – guitar
Plays all the right chords, having nailed the rhythm department for Stacey Kent on numerous tours and CDs, and now works with Steve Kaldestad and star Japanese songstress Eriko Ishihara. Plays a great blues solo whilst keeping his head perfectly still.
Matt Skelton – drums
Has rattled the kitchenware for Ray Gelato, the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and Harry "Sweets" Edison. Has toured and recorded extensively with Stacey Kent and the British-born Hollywood conductor John Wilson. Loves to drive the band in perfect swing time.
