The 24 singers of the London Vocal Project, led by Pete Churchill, bring their Christmas celebration to Ronnie Scott's, featuring reworkings of favourite Christmas songs and the best of their regular repertoire.
The London Vocal Project is one of the UK's leading contemporary vocal ensembles, specialising in jazz and groove music.
Formed in 2008 from graduates of London conservatoires, the 24-strong choir comprises singers, instrumentalists, composers and music educators, and led by Pete Churchill.
Our repertoire spans a huge breadth of genres, from jazz and popular music to gospel and groove.
In addition to performing our own arrangements and compositions at London's most famous venues, we have collaborated with some of the world's leading writers and performers, including Sir John Dankworth, Kenny Wheeler, Bobby McFerrin and Jon Hendricks.
LVP recorded and performed Mirrors, a suite of vocal music by Kenny Wheeler, with Kenny himself and Norma WInstone. The album also featured Mark Lockhart (sax), Nikki Iles (piano), Steve Watts (bass) and James Maddren (drum), and was released on Edition Records.
In 2017, LVP premiered Jon Hendricks’ Miles Ahead, a lyricisation of the complete classic Miles Davis and Gil Evans album, in New York, followed by a sell-out London performance. A recording will follow soon.
"The singers of the London Vocal Project are something else... They sound like a coherent ensemble – a real band – with a signature sound like no other choir on the scene"
John L Walters, LondonJazzNews
"Churchill’s orchestration showed his mastery of the LVP’s timbres, the sheer scope of sounds it is possible to make with massed human voices."
Peter Quinn, The Arts Desk
