£12.50 - £22.50
A first ever at Ronnie’s, 3 main acts in one evening (plus a late late show!) with 3 of the best musically forward-thinking bands on the British scene. Soulful pianist Peter Edwards and trio perform opposite modern creative band Juncture led by trumpet player Henry Spencer and hotly tipped punk-jazz quintet WorldService Project. Not to be missed!
Peter Edwards is a pianist, composer and bandleader whose ‘guileless, soulful music…[is] full of emphatic chording, Latin grooves and romantic, cinematic themes’ (Guardian) . He is a 2014 MOBO Best Jazz Act nominee and his debut album 'Safe and Sound' is among MOJO's top 10 jazz albums of 2014.
Henry Spencer - trumpet, NIC COSTLEY-WHITE - guitar, MATT ROBINSON – pianoHenry Spencer and Juncture perform original compositions by their leader and trumpet player. Drawing on influences from jazz, rock and minimalism, the ensemble creates an achingly contemporary sound world with a focus on emotional and creative expression. Having met whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music, Juncture are able to draw upon years of playing together, resulting in a deep musical understanding and interaction between the musicians. This musical empathy, along with Henry’s fresh compositional approach led them to winning the Best Newcomer Award at the Marlborough Jazz Festival following their debut performance
