Once again, the Trinity Laban jazz department perform at one of the world’s most prestigious jazz venues, Ronnie Scott’s. In this double bill, Malcolm Earle-Smith directs the Trinity Laban Jazz Ensemble in a selection of blues-based arrangements from the 1930s to 1960s and beyond, including music by Count Basie, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Horace Silver and Slide Hampton. Then Mark Lockheart and the Trinity Laban Contemporary Jazz Ensemble explore the sounds of Art Pepper + Eleven, the iconic 1960 album that brought together some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century to perform big band arrangements of modern classics by the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Gerry Mulligan and Miles Davis.
