Mordente live presents Gaetano Partipilo and the Contemporary Five ft. Gaetano Partipilo (alto sax), Francesco Diodati (el. guitar), Alessandro Lanzoni ( piano), Luca Alemanno (bass) & Dario Congedo (drums) + Late Late Show host Alex Garnett

After the success of the album Besides (produced by Nicola Conte for Schema Records), a modern rework of the wonderful sound of the sixties, saxophonist Gaetano Partipilo plunges himself into contemporary jazz, this time contaminated by rock and metropolitan atmospheres, and gives birth to a new extraordinary album. An album that will be released in spring 2016 for Tuk Music, the label of the famous Italian jazz trumpet player Paolo Fresu.

A new band by Partipilo’s side, made with rising stars of Italian jazz. Francesco Diodati (el. Guitar), Alessandro Lanzoni (piano e fender rhodes), Luca Alemanno (electric and double bass) and Dario Congedo (drums).

This new record of the Apulian sax player encases two long years of work and fully expresses the maturity of an artist that, after continuous search for a sound, has reached the utmost expressive intensity. A language refined but never sophisticated; skillful without ever being canonical; eloquent without ever being wordy; elegant without ever being “snob”; cultured but pragmatic; direct and never interposed. A language that “says” exactly what it wants to say: authentic, original, personal, free.
