This jazz lunch session comes from the TRUDY KERR QUINTET, line up TBC in celebrating the music of an enduring jazz icon: the great trumpeter/singer Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan
Hailed as ‘one of the country's most polished singers’ by The Times, Trudy moved to London in 1990 from her native Australia and, whilst continuing to gig regularly, as she had done back home, worked during the day as secretary for popular clarinetist Acker Bilk. She took time out to study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and in 1995 got her musical career break when Ronnie Scott offered her a week at his club: she has performed regularly at the famous Soho jazzerie ever since. Trudy has toured extensively around the UK at festivals and jazz venues and as well she has toured the globe from her native Australia to Isreal and Sweden
Trudy is currently releasing her ten album 'The Rhythm of Life' but is delighted to be once again performing repertoire from her album ‘My Old Flame’ celebrating the music of Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan. For this rare date Trudy will be joined on stage by the cream of UK jazz musicians – Derek Nash saxes, Dick Pearce trumpet, Geoff Gascoyne bass, Seb de Krom drums and Tom Cawley piano.
Trudy also co-presents BBC Radio Kent’s Jazz hour on a Tuesday night with Roger Day where she plays latest UK releases as well as classic jazz recordings.
She is a sought after jazz singing teacher and has taught at Trinity/Laban, Guildhall School of Music and on the Jazz Academy Courses. Trudy also tours the UK with her popular children's show JAZZ FOR JUNIORS (www.jazzforjuniors.co.uk)
