Doors open 6pm, ALFA MIST 7.30pm, NUBYA GARCIA 9.15pm, (late late set): TRI-FORCE 11.15pm, Curfew 3am

Set to be a memorable night featuring the best of the UK's young music scene mixing jazz with soul, electronica, hiphop, afrobeat and other contemporary influences. First up tonight is composer/producer/keyboardist ALFA MIST, who has been making waves on the live scene, as well as garnering great acclaim with his 2017 lp Antiphon.

Following afterwards is saxophonist/composer NUBYA GARCIA, who has been making waves for a few years now in a number of projects, not least her own project as bandleader, but also producer Congo Natty, as part of the Theon Cross Trio, Nerija, and collabs with Melt Yourself Down, Polar Bear amongst others. Ticket holders will also be able to stay on for the late late show by up-and-coming act TRIFORCE.

Growing up in Newham, East London, Alfa Mist began his musical journey as a grime and hiphop producer. The self-taught pianist and sometimes rapper soon found himself drawn to the jazz, world music and film soundtracks he discovered through sampling. His sound blends melancholy jazz harmony with alternative hip-hop and soul.

His recently released second album ‘Antiphon’ has pushed him forward in the new jazz scene as one to watch following the warm reception of his first record ‘Nocturne’ which featured the likes of Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei.

London-based saxophonist and composer, Nubya Garcia, is one of the leading forces behind the resurgence of jazz-influenced sounds in the UK.

Raised in a creative environment built by a set of Caribbean parents, her brand of afro-tinged jazz has made her a key component in a string of new and established groups: from work with legendary jungle producer and toaster, Congo Natty, through to her own works as part of the Theon Cross Trio, six-piece Maisha, and the Nérija septet.

Spring 2017 will see her release her first solo project via forward-thinking imprint, Jazz re:freshed. The project — which explores the common ground between progressive jazz, hip hop and soulful, groove led rhythms — is set to cement her credentials in UK music.
