On Sat 21st October Ronnie Scott’s presents a unique opportunity to see one of the UK's greatest drummers PETE RAY BIGGIN performing an exclusive masterclass.

This masterclass is a must for musicians, drummers and fans of PETE'S effortless ability on the kit. This lunchtime session will feature Pete demonstrating some of his musical and drum techniques, talking about his influences and musical career to date and his latest book release. plus, if time permits, a Q&A session at the end. There will be copies of the book for sale at this event.

With his deeper-than-deep grooves, blistering solos, and out-there musical creativity, Pete Ray Biggin plays with such fiery passion that he quickly earned himself a reputation as one of the UK’s hottest players. This has led him to play with Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Incognito, Chaka Khan, Adele, Joss Stone, Jessie J, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston, Lalah Hathaway, Brand New Heavies, Estelle, Taio Cruz, and now in the seat of one of his major inspirations as a child, Level 42.

Now recording and touring the world with Level 42 and his own gigging group where Pete is the writer, producer, playing multiple instruments on the album(Stand Up) and musical director of the funky PBUG (PB Underground), Although Pete is still waiting for the call from Sting, Tower of Power, Herbie Hancock, EWF, Steive Wonder and Steely Dan to name a few, “Groove, Funk and Soul are my main vibe, but N soul, hip-hop, Latin, jazz, rock... it’s all good with me too.

And while he describes his drumming as “groovy, musical, fiery and energetic,” there is an undeniably moving power to Pete’s playing, as is evident when he sits behind the kit and just plays, as to when he headlined “London Drum Show” in 2015 he simple wowed the audience.
Pete’s influences are Billy Cobham, Keith Moon, David Garibaldi, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Gary Husband, Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta and Dave Weckl Etc.
Pete says’ When I play, I just want to see people moving, dancing, that’s my job, to keep good time, to keep it groovey, to listen and give 100% heart and nothing less
But then that’s what Pete Ray Biggin is really all about. High energy heart and funky soul drumming... with a great sense of musicality and a really big groove.
