“She aces the tightrope walk of songbook reverence and jazz-vocal breeziness that often proves elusive on such an album” - NY Times
Five-Time Grammy Nominee Kansas-born singer and pianist Karrin Allyson began her recording career when she signed to Concord Records in 1992, releasing her debut album 'I Didn't Know About You' that same year.
Now based in New York, she spends most of her life touring but what makes this extraordinary singer stand out is the way in which she moves with such ease and authority from the Great American Songbook of Gershwin and Porter, to the Great American Jazz Songbook of Duke and Thelonius and Miles and Dizzy, jet-setting to Rio and Paris and swinging back home to pick up Bonnie Raitt and Joni Mitchell and Jimmy Webb.
What unites this wide world of music, bringing it together and making sense of it all, is her warmth and depth. Her most recent album 'Many a New Day’, Karrin Allyson sings Rodgers & Hammerstein' was released on Motema Records.
