London during the 70s witnessed the band Osibisa - led by the Godfather of Ghanaian Afrobeat Teddy Osei - launch their unique brand of African fusion music on the world stage to an adoring public.

Inspired by West African and Caribbean roots, Osibisa became one of the first African Caribbean groups that appealed to a mainstream audience with their fusion of jazz, funk, calypso, Latin, pop and rock references. The definition of 'Osibisa' is the criss-cross rhythms that explode with happiness and their hits include ‘Sunshine Day’, ‘Gong Gong Song’, ‘Dance the Body Music’ and ‘The Coffee Song’.

As their 50th anniversary approaches in 2019, Osibisa will release their first new album in 15 years, coupled with a new show celebrating the band's achievements and their 'happy music' ideology.

Bukky Leo: Saxophone, Mohammed Mazam - Guitar, Stanley Ohio - Drums, Dennis Stanley - Bass
Bukky Leo is one of the most versatile and explosive saxophonists in the UK. While growing up in Lagos Nigeria, Bukky was spotted practising his first saxophone by the original Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. He was immediately ushered into Tony’s newly formed band. Bukky went on to play with the great Fela Kuti where the seeds of Afrobeat were being sown. Under the influence of Tony Allen, Bukky decided to follow his own journey with his distinct style of Jazz and Afrobeat. Since his debut in 1982, Bukky Leo has released some great albums including “Rejoice In Righteousness”, “River Nile”, “The Source”, “Afrobeat Visions” and his current 2013 CD “Skeleton” produced by Dennis Bovell.
