London based quartet Fraser & the Alibis, seek out the hippest material in Bop, Blues and Boogaloo.
Inspired by the big tenor sax sounds of Dexter Gordon and the screaming Organ of Jimmy Smith, the band play original tunes, deeply entrenched in the roots of the music. With a nod to ‘Sam Butera and the Witnesses’ of louis Prima fame, Fraser & the Alibis channel the intensity and feel good effect of the swing and jive music of the dance hall era, combined with the intricacies and virtuosities of later jazz movements. After playing approximately 400 gigs together over the last decade, they released their much anticipated debut Album in October 2017.Tonight they will “spotlight” the legendary George Bensons early instrumental work on the famed album “Cookbook”.
From Monday to Saturday and following the main act, Ronnie Scott’s presents UK’s finest talents in the Late Late Show. A late night ‘blowing session’ where invited guests and musical celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Esperanza Spalding, Marcus Miller, Robert Glasper, Lady Gaga, Christian Scott etc who happen to be in town are showcased – you never know who might drop by! Doors 11pm (weekdays) & 1am (weekends).
