Henry James "Red" Allen was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist whose style has been claimed to be the first to fully incorporate the innovations of Louis Armstrong. Peter Horsfall has released his own personal tribute “RED” to the legendary New Orleans trumpeter and singer Henry "Red" Allen and brings his band to the late show spotlight. Peter's EP includes obscure and beautiful songs from Henry Red's 1930s output and has also taken snippets from Henry's public radio interview with Nat Hentoff in the 1960s, crafting a number of short original compositions around them. Peter's EP communicates some of the wonderful style, swing and joy that Henry Red Allen brought to his music. He’s one of the great jazz stylists of the 20th Century and in 2019 his music remains at once thoroughly modern, mysterious and entertaining. RED (EP) is my personal tribute to this genius of modern music" says Peter.
