Born in the US Virgin Islands and raised in New York, Grammy-winning US jazz saxophone giant Jean Toussaint began his international career as a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in 1982. After four and a half years in the band alongside Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Lonnie Plaxico and Mulgrew Miller, he settled in London, quickly becoming a key figure in British jazz. Toussaint has maintained a considerable presence as bandleader in Europe, especially in Britain and France, and worked in the groups of Americans such as McCoy Tyner, Max Roach, Cedar Walton, Gil Evans and Jeff 'Tain' Watts.
Tate Song features Toussaint's working quartet of pianist Andrew McCormack, bassist Larry Bartley and drummer Troy Miller. The set includes originals by Toussaint and McCormack, plus the standard ‘These Foolish Things’ and Milton Nascimento’s ‘Vera Cruz’. Following his 2010 release Live In Paris And London, which The Independent described as "a state-of-the-art disquisition on both sax technique and post-bop jazz", Tate Song is Toussaint’s tenth album and includes liner notes by pianist/broadcaster Julian Joseph. Following its release on February 24th the band, also known as JT4, will perform fourteen UK dates in March, including a headlining show at Ronnie Scott's, London.

Libor (CZ) and Nigel (UK) have a shared passion for post bop era jazz and the blues. They have both taken these influences and injected them into their more contemporary take on this music. They have both been working, unbeknown to each other, Nigel in the UK, Libor in the Czech Republic for the last two decades in the same ‘organ trio’ format.
They truly are kindred spirits and this meeting of minds is sure to produce fireworks.
This is the first date of a week long tour of the UK.
Libor and Nigel will be performing each others’ original compositions as well as carefully selected standard repertoire.
