The Fliss Gorst Band are a dazzling London based band who perform authentic swing, original compositions and new takes on old classics for your listening and dancing pleasure.
The band are led by saxophonist Fliss Gorst and consist of a stellar line up of London's finest musicians. They’re thrilled to be joined by guest vocalist Lauren Bush for this very special evening.
Experienced performers, FGB have performed at numerous venues including the main stage at Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express Jazz Club, The Spice Of Life Soho and a six year residency at Poppies, Camden. The band are looking forward to this fabulous night celebrating all that is best of the swing era at this prestigious venue.
Prepare for a good time! Grounded Movement directors Temujin Gill and Sunanda Biswas will lead two short Jazz / Lindy Hop workshops on the night to get you swinging to the sound of the live band! Even if you’ve never danced before these guys will get you up on your feet and feeling great!
Grounded Movement is a dance company specialising in social and street-derived dances, drawing on a rich blend of forms including Lindy Hop, Tap, Soul and Funk. As well as choreographing the NHS section of Danny Boyle's award winning London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, past credits include Ray Davies’ Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall and the sell-out Harlem Renaissance production at Greenwich Dance's The Supper Room. From Southbank Centre to Sadler's Wells Grounded Movement bring together a wide range of people and artists through vibrant performances, accessible classes and social events for the whole community.
