Featuring:
Vittorio Mura – saxophone
Will Sach – Bass
Gwilym Jones – Drums

During Vittorio’s time in Birmingham, he was able to study with many of the UK’s finest musicians, such as Mike Williams, Jean Toussaint, Percy Pursglove and Hans Koller. More recently, he has taken lessons in New York with Chris Cheek, Rich Perry, Tim Armacost and Lucas Pino.

Performance highlights so far include appearing at the Vortex jazz club and Birmingham's Symphony Hall with the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, and playing alongside Dave Holland, Nate Smith and Stan Sulzmann  as part of Birmingham Conservatoire's final jazz concert at the Adrian Boult Hall. He has also performed at various festivals, including Cork Jazz, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul, Cheltenham and Trondheim Jazz Fest (Norway)

Vittorio’s playing is heavily influenced by John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins and Joe Henderson, as well as a host of contemporary musicians such as Mark Turner and Walter Smith III.

A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Vittorio is currently completing a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the City College of New York. This newly formed trio is an amalgamation of his time in Birmingham and New York featuring US bassist now resident in the UK Will Sach and rising drum ace Jones completing the line-up.Expect original compositions drawing from a wide range of influences including flavours of the classic tenor trio sounds of Joe Henderson and Sonny Rollins.

“…without a doubt one of the finest musicians to be riding the crest of the new wave of improvisers coming out of Birmingham. Definitely one to watch….” – Percy Pursglove
