Featuring
Brandon Allen – Saxophone
Tim Lapthorn –Piano Keys
Arnie Somagyi – Bass
Lloyd Haines – Drums

Brandon Allen and Tim Lapthorn have been performing together for over 16 years. The saxophonist and pianist have played in various quartet formations at the club for over 8 years and tonight bring together their respective musical forces and an official new group project ,the BATL quartet,to bring to life the master work of John Coltrane and his classic quartet album “Transition”.Recorded in 1965 but released posthumously only in 1970. As its title indicates, Transition was a bridge between classic quartet recordings like A Love Supreme and the more experimental works of Coltrane's last years. BATL quartet will explore this rare albums music moving between Coltrane's blues idioms and the free jazz that would dominate his final work.

The BATL Quartet collectively have performed with Kyle Eastwood, Eddie Henderson, Ron Carter, Bruce Barth, Stefano Di Battista, Hailey Tuck, Antonio Forcione, Omar, Eric Clapton and Paloma Faith to name a few. Tonight’s “spotlight” promises to impress!!
