“Blue note” is unquestionably the most iconic jazz label there has ever been. In saying that, it may well be the most iconic record label of all time. When Alfred Lion started the label in 1939, recording boogie woogie pianists Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons, his intention was to bring to the public the kind of music that he felt was important. It was a mission that he never wavered from, nor have the Blue Note albums that have followed in his illustrious footsteps. Alongside his busy schedule as a  model for a hip Norwegian fashion house, Nick Costley-White’s new organ trio focuses on music from the sixties blue note era by legendries such as Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, alongside some songbook classics in the blue note mould. Nick's debut album Detour Ahead (Ubuntu Music) was released in 2018 to critical acclaim; 'A masterclass in the underappreciated art of playing beautiful laid back swing' Jazzwise, and Nick now presents this exciting new group featuring two of the finest jazz musicians the UK has ever produced; internationally renowned NYC based drummer Mark Taylor, (who’s CV includes a seemingly unending list of jazz greats including George Coleman and Joe Henderson) alongside the U.K’s answer to larry Goldings, the great Ross Stanley on organ.
