UK trumpet player Pete Horsfall celebrates the artistry of Louis Armstrong, the genius of jazz and legendary entertainer. Louis Daniel Armstrong, nicknamed Satchmo, Satch, and Pops was among the most influential figures in jazz. He was a ground-breaking trumpeter and co-creator of modern jazz and his career as a musician as well as composer, vocalist, and actor spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and different eras in the history of jazz. And as Miles Davis said, ‘You can’t play anything on a horn that Louis hasn’t played.’
Peter Horsfall is an acclaimed trumpet player, vocalist and songwriter based in the UK. A vibrant and formidable presence on the London jazz scene, Peter has developed a reputation as a consummate bandleader and an innovative producer. Peter's latest album Nighthawks received critical acclaim, including a four star review in the Guardian. Described by “All about Jazz” as 'one of the year's most original releases', the record was featured on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM. Peter performs at many prestigious venues and festivals throughout the world. These include The Lincoln Centre (NYC), Ronnie Scott's, Sunset/Sunside (Paris), North Sea Jazz Festival (NDL), the Cadogan Hall, London Jazz Festival, The Jazz Cafe, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Southbank Centre, La Spezia Jazz Festival (IT) and many more. In addition leading his own solo projects, you can also find Peter playing regularly with singer and broadcaster Clare Teal and leading the highly respected traditional jazz ensemble Basin Street Brawlers.
